Built by Bryan Building Co. is looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Estimator to join our team. The Estimator will play a key role in evaluating and determining the costs of construction projects, ensuring that all bids are accurate, competitive, and aligned with our company’s high-quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general carpentry and construction, with exceptional communication skills and a keen eye for detail to provide accurate and thorough project estimates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review project plans and specifications to prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for residential construction projects.
- Calculate labor, material, and equipment costs, and incorporate these into the overall project budget.
- Collaborate with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to obtain quotes and ensure competitive pricing for project materials and services.
- Evaluate project scope, timelines, and potential risks to ensure all factors are considered in the cost estimate.
- Prepare and submit detailed, well-organized bid proposals to clients, providing a clear breakdown of all costs.
- Work closely with project managers, architects, and clients to ensure alignment between budget and project requirements.
- Conduct on-site evaluations to assess existing conditions and gather data for estimates.
- Monitor project costs during construction and update estimates as needed to reflect changes in scope or unforeseen circumstances.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry pricing trends, materials, and construction techniques to ensure accuracy in cost projections.
- Provide input on project feasibility and cost-saving measures without compromising quality or safety.
Qualifications:
- Strong background in general carpentry, construction, or a related field, with hands-on experience in residential building projects.
- At least 3 years of experience in estimating for residential construction projects, including cost analysis and bid preparation.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex details to clients, contractors, and vendors clearly and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring that all cost estimates are thorough and precise.
- Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to assess project risks and adjust estimates accordingly.
- Proficient with estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Buildertrend) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in construction estimating or a related field.
- Experience with budget management and cost control during project execution.
- Familiarity with local building codes and regulations.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and high standards of work.
